About Pursuit Wealth Management

The crowning fortune of a man is to be born to some pursuit which finds him ... happiness.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Pursuit Wealth Management is an independent financial advising firm serving clients since 1992. We are a state of Iowa Registered Investment Advisor firm that has also done business under our LLC name as Financial Investments Research & Management.

We take very seriously our role as a fiduciary in our role as an advisor over our clients’ assets.

What is a Fiduciary?

By definition, a fiduciary is an individual who is ethically bound to act solely in another person’s best financial interest. This obligation eliminates conflicts of interest concerns and makes a fiduciary’s advice more trustworthy. Fiduciary duty is a legal responsibility to put the interests of another party before one’s own. A fiduciary demonstrates prudence by the process through which their investment decisions are made.

Best Interests

Fiduciaries must put their clients’ best interests before their own, seeking the best prices and terms.

Accuracy of Information

Fiduciaries must do their best to ensure the advice they provide is accurate and thorough.

Good Faith

Fiduciaries must act in good faith and provide all relevant facts to clients.

Priorities

Fiduciaries must avoid using a client’s assets to benefit themselves, such as by purchasing securities for their own account before buying them for a client.

Conflicts of Interest

Fiduciaries must avoid conflicts of interest and disclose any potential conflicts of interest to clients.

At Pursuit Wealth Management we act solely in our clients’ best financial interests, meaning we have no commission or kick backs on the products we use. Our portfolio managers are held to a higher ethical standard and have the knowledge to provide sophisticated portfolio management services. As fiduciaries of our clients’ accounts, Pursuit Wealth Management does not take custody of client accounts or funds and has no proprietary products, and thus no conflict of interest in where to invest our clients’ money.

Investment Philosophy

Our Process

Our investment process is rooted in the 1990 Nobel Prize winning concepts of Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT). MPT looks at the statistically optimized portfolio construction to give the best expected risk adjusted return over the long run. We then apply the work of the 2017 Nobel Prize concepts of Behavioral Economics to make shorter term adjustments and to consult with our clients throughout their long-term pursuits.

Management Style

Our clients’ accounts are managed individually according to their own unique goals, risk tolerance, and needs. We have no proprietary investment products or quotas. We do not accept any compensation or gifts from product or service providers and thus no conflicts of interest where we invest our clients’ money. Pursuit Wealth Management does not take custody of client funds; rather a separate account is set up in each clients’ name at TD Ameritrade precluding the co-mingling of client accounts.

Performance

Performance

At Pursuit Wealth Management we measure performance over the long-term by goals accomplished. To track progress to your goals we develop a benchmark appropriate for your unique asset allocation. We will not publish any individual returns as it could lead to “cherry picking”’ returns and mislead clients and prospective clients. Pursuit Wealth Management also does not use hypothetical returns. Hypothetical returns are not real returns that were achieved by anyone. They are the returns of investments chosen after they have occurred and combined in a portfolio. Those investments may or may not have been included in the actual portfolios over that time frame. Hypothetical returns used in public or private presentation would be a breach of fiduciary duty.

Start your journey with purpose and vision, then pursue it with great passion.
